Merchant Account; is setup by a bank which enables you you to accept credit and debit transactions. Your merchant account provider will deposit the processed funds in your business or personal checking account with in 48 hours.
Discount Rate; is a charge that is paid to the credit card processing company on each sale, this fee is different though out the industry and is one you need to keep a close eye on. If you are quoted a retail discount rate for your Internet business you will automatically be charge a higher rate due to your business type. So make sure you are quoted and setup with the correct rates when you sign up with a merchant account provider.
Monthly Minimum; is a fee charged by the credit card processing company in order to insure there profits. Monthly miimum fees are only charged if you do not process enough transactions to add up to the monthly minimum amount.
Statment Fee; is a fee charge for the printing, stuffin of the envelope and the mailing of the monthly statement. Some merchant account providers waive this fee if you process above the monthly mimum amounts or if you recieve the statements online.
Transaction Fee; is a fee charge each time you recieve a authorization or any response from the credit card processing company. No matter if it is a decline or a success you will be charged for each request. |
